Burial or Interment of Ashes
Before burial or an Interment of Ashes takes place in our cemeteries, contact must be made with our priest-in-charge, of the Parish, Rev. Elgin Edwards.
Elgin will support you through the process of organizing the service. Interments require the burial service of the church (Prayer Book) read by the Rev. Elgin Edwards or by some person authorized by him.
Burials
The ownership of the cemeteries is vested in the General Trust Board of the Auckland Diocese. The Waimate North Management Committee is the local administrator of the burial grounds in accordance with the Diocesan Burial Grounds Statute 1990 (updated 1972.) The sextons are appointed and act on behalf of the Priest in Charge and Management Committee.
All interments (burials or ashes) are recorded in the Burial Register maintained by the Priest in Charge.
Interment of Ashes
Ashes may be interred at the designated ashes berm or at an existing (family) grave. Please note that there is no provision for ashes to be scattered on existing graves or within the cemetery grounds. Plaques on the berm plots are to be 400mm by 255mm.
